Brutus Begins is a project by psych-folk artist Ricardo Temporao. The musician and director brings together acoustic and synthesized elements to give his songs a cinematic feel while grounding them in well crafted songs. Hypnotic loops, sweeping melodies, thoughtful lyrics bring to mind influences from Shuggie Otis to Elliott Smith. The stories are intimate and the songwriting is honest.
The live band is made up of Ricardo, Geoff Burns on bass and Nick Burson on drums.
Brutus Begins released "Uncanny Valley" to critical praise. It's been described as "...a juggernaut of a debut", "phenomenal", "as addicting and inviting as a soma hit" and "...one of the most compelling and high quality debuts we've heard in a decade". More recently, his music has been featured by Alan Cross on The Edge 102.1.
Currently/constantly, Ricardo and his team are in production for his next release.
